Pro, whose price is not shown in the lookup used here, adds Mac or Windows shared folders, FTP or SFTP, ComicStreamer, Calibre or Ubooquity, and a mini web and WebDAV server. It also describes smart upscaling, auto contrast, a two-up view, right-to-left reading and parental controls.

Where Chunky is better

Where an alternative fits

Chunky’s listing is iPad-only and its current version is from 2020. If you need iPhone, Android, or an app updated in 2026, look elsewhere.

TritonPanels runs on iPhone, iPad (iOS 17 or later) and Android 7.0 or later. It reads CBZ, RAR4 CBR, CB7, CBT, PDF and image-based DRM-free EPUB. It does not open RAR5. It talks to Komga and Kavita with progress both ways, and to OPDS 1 and 2, including Calibre, read-only. SMB shares are covered in reading from a NAS or SMB share. There is no Mac app and no one-time purchase. That subscription is a real disadvantage next to a free iPad app.
