What opens on Android
The app reads CBZ, CBR when the archive is RAR4, CB7, CBT and compressed TAR, PDF, and image-based DRM-free EPUB. It does not open RAR5 CBR, CBA, text-only EPUB, or a purchase locked to another store’s app. A RAR5 file becomes a CBZ in about a minute: extract, zip, rename. Converting CBR to CBZ is the walk-through, and opening CBZ and CBR files is the longer format page.
| File | On Android |
|---|---|
| CBZ, CB7, CBT | Opens |
| CBR | RAR4 opens as-is. Convert RAR5 to CBZ. |
| Opens, one page at a time | |
| EPUB | Image-based and DRM-free only |
Where the comics can live
Import from the phone, an SD card or a USB drive. Google Drive, Dropbox and OneDrive can be browsed in the app. A Dropbox folder can stay as a live library. The cloud steps are in reading from Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive. Folders on a NAS are in reading from a NAS or SMB share and USB, SD card or a folder.
If the library is already on a server, Komga and Kavita sync reading progress both ways, with no TritonPanels account. OPDS, including Calibre, is read-only, so that progress stays on the phone. Away from home, a Komga or Kavita server on Tailscale can be reached over HTTPS on a *.ts.net name via Tailscale Serve. There is no web reader.
Tablets, spreads and manga
On a tablet, Double Page shows two pages side by side. Turn on Automatic Single/Double by Orientation and the tablet uses one page upright and a spread when you turn it sideways. The cover, and any page that is already a wide image, stay on their own. PDF stays one page at a time. The setup steps are in reading comics on an iPad or Android tablet.
Right to Left (Manga) applies to pages, spreads and Panel by Panel. Continuous Scroll with Fit Width is the mode for a long vertical strip. The dedicated pages are the manga reader for Android and webtoons and vertical scroll.
Panel by Panel finds panels on the device and shows one at a time. Nothing is uploaded.
